About Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey is a legendary figure in music history, celebrated as the best-selling female recording artist with over 200 million albums sold worldwide. Born in 1969, she rose to fame with a remarkable blend of vocal talent, songwriting, and production skills, crafting 19 Billboard Hot 100 number-one hits—18 of which she wrote herself—setting a record that remains unmatched by any solo artist. Her groundbreaking fusion of pop, R&B, and soul has shaped the sound of contemporary music for decades.

Carey’s prolific career is highlighted by numerous prestigious awards, including multiple Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, and three Guinness World Records. She has been honored by Billboard as both “Artist of the Decade” and recipient of the “Icon Award,” while the World Music Awards named her the “World’s Best Selling Female Artist of the Millennium.” Her contributions to songwriting have garnered further recognition, leading to her induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and accolades like the Ivor Novello Award and BMI’s “Icon Award.”

Beyond her music career, Mariah Carey has ventured into acting, earning the Breakthrough Performance Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival for her role in Lee Daniels’ *Precious* (2009) and appearing in *The Butler* (2013). She is also a committed philanthropist, supporting organizations such as Save the Music, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, World Hunger Relief, and the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Additionally, she founded Camp Mariah with the Fresh Air Fund to inspire and empower inner-city children.
