Description
Step inside the extraordinary world of Dr. Jane Goodall.
In 1960, a young woman with no scientific degree set off into the forests of Tanzania with a notebook and a pair of binoculars. What she discovered changed our understanding of chimpanzees, and of ourselves, forever.
Your journey begins in Gombe. Walk through the landscapes of Gombe Stream National Park, where Jane first earned the trust of the chimpanzees she would study for decades. Through interactive experiences, discover how they use tools, communicate and form deep family bonds.
Then step into Jane’s research tent, a faithful recreation of her field camp, and try your hand at recording observations just as she did. Along the way, [archival footage, photographs and personal objects] bring her pioneering work to life.
The highlight? Come face to face with Jane herself, through a hologram-like projection where she shares memories and lessons from her extraordinary life.
Leave inspired. The exhibit closes with Jane’s ongoing mission as a conservationist, mentor and advocate, and shows how you can play your part in building a better future for people, animals and the planet.
Created by National Geographic and the Jane Goodall Institute, Becoming Jane is a moving, hands-on experience for curious minds of all ages: families, nature lovers and anyone who believes one person can make a difference.
