A blind poet takes to the streets to find money. Through his eyes, we’ll see an entire country reflected in a distorted mirror. One actor, Héctor Urién, carries the entire play, narrating, performing up to 30 characters, and explaining to today’s audience a text written over a hundred years ago, without losing rigor or pace. The ‘esperpento’ comes to life through body, voice, and language, reclaiming the fierce and tender humour of Valle-Inclán, often missing from more solemn productions. The audience laughs, recognises themselves, and is challenged in a swift, continuous, and deeply human journey. A show that requires no prior knowledge, only the desire to be carried away.
