Remember when the concept of technopop actually meant something? Luca Venezia, the person behind Curses, remembers perfectly. This German producer, musician, and DJ lives artistically and spiritually rooted in the late 70s, when record labels like Mute Records in Germany or Factory Records in the UK saw at the end of the tunnel a dancefloor with post-punk and industrial reflections.
That’s the dancefloor Venezia keeps returning to with every release… and he has been blending club electronics and rock sounds for almost fifteen years. Nearly a decade and a half during which he even managed to seduce Johnny Jewel, the modern godfather of synth nostalgia, to release his third album, Another Heaven, on his Italians Do It Better label in 2024.
