🌟 Tortoise at Sala Moon. Ten years after their last visit, Tortoise are back. Jeff Parker, Dan Bitney, Douglas McCombs, John Herndon, and John McEntire will perform in Valencia on November 7 (Sala Moon) and in Madrid on November 8 (Sala But) on a tour co-produced by Primavera Tours and FOAM, as well as offering a concert in Barcelona on November 6, which will be announced shortly. Description
It is unusual to be able to describe a band with bold statements and have them all be true. Truth number 1: Tortoise are one of the most influential bands of the last 40 years, shaking up 90s indie rock with elements of krautrock and avant-garde jazz and paving the way for post-rock for others to follow to this day. Truth number 2: they are a thousand bands in one. In addition to their nonconformity and experimental drive, this is almost literally true, because their members have been part of countless bands before and after the creation of Tortoise that have further expanded their sonic coordinates. Truth number 3: perhaps because of this, they only release new music when they want to. That's why each of their record releases, such as their celebrated eighth album Touch, released in late 2025 after almost a decade of silence, is experienced as a real event. It's a work in which the Chicago band raises the bar for grandeur, if that's even possible.
