Stand on the peak that watches over Snæfellsnes.

This side event invites guests to climb Snæfellsjökull, the glacier-capped volcano that crowns the peninsula. It rises 1,446 meters above sea level, tall enough to be seen from Reykjavik on a clear day, and is the same summit that inspired Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth

Limited to 10 guests and led by two certified glacier guides, this is a serious mountaineering day, a climb through ice, crevasse fields, and thinning air that ends somewhere few people ever stand.

Guests rope up, strap into crampons, ice axes in hand, and climb roughly 760 meters of elevation gain over about eight kilometers of glacier terrain toward the summit.

The full round trip runs six to eight hours. Roundtrip transportation from the festival site is included, along with all glacier gear: crampons, harness, and ice axe.

This is not a beginner hike. Guests should be in good health with decent stamina and comfortable with sustained uphill walking.

Steady climbing, wide views, and the rare feeling of standing on a glacier volcano above the entire peninsula before the descent back down.
Set out on an ATV adventure at the foot of the Snæfellsjökull glacier-volcano. Cross rugged tracks, ancient lava flows, and pumice fields frozen in time. With sweeping glacier views and a climb up a 1,500-year-old volcanic crater, this journey reveals the raw power of Iceland's volcanic past.
Includes:
  • From 9 to 11 and 13 to 15 August 2026
  • Guided ATV ride at the base of Snæfellsjökull Glacier
  • Views of crevasses, blue ice, and fresh moraines
  • Ride across ancient lava and pumice fields
  • Exploration of a 1,500-year-old volcanic crater
  • Roundtrip transportation from the festival site in Hellissandur
Kayak through the serene waters of Grundarfjörður with the majestic Kirkjufell mountain as your backdrop. This guided adventure blends breathtaking scenery with the chance to encounter Icelandic wildlife along the way.
Includes:
  • 10, 11, 13, or 14 August 2026 at 13:00 UTC
  • Guided kayaking in Grundarfjörður fjord
  • Views of Kirkjufell mountain and surrounding landscapes
  • Chance to spot local wildlife
  • Roundtrip transportation from the festival site in Hellissandur
