Stand on the peak that watches over Snæfellsnes.

This side event invites guests to climb Snæfellsjökull, the glacier-capped volcano that crowns the peninsula. It rises 1,446 meters above sea level, tall enough to be seen from Reykjavik on a clear day, and is the same summit that inspired Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth

Limited to 10 guests and led by two certified glacier guides, this is a serious mountaineering day, a climb through ice, crevasse fields, and thinning air that ends somewhere few people ever stand.

Guests rope up, strap into crampons, ice axes in hand, and climb roughly 760 meters of elevation gain over about eight kilometers of glacier terrain toward the summit.

The full round trip runs six to eight hours. Roundtrip transportation from the festival site is included, along with all glacier gear: crampons, harness, and ice axe.

This is not a beginner hike. Guests should be in good health with decent stamina and comfortable with sustained uphill walking.

The speed depends on the attending group members. Usually, it’s a rather slow and easy tour. Therefore, you don’t need riding experience to join.
