Today we experienced a profoundly moving exhibition at the Freedom Tower: Libertad.
It weaves art and history into a vivid testament to Miami’s story — and to the Tower’s enduring role as a beacon of hope and resilience for generations of immigrants.
This is our story: immigrants and exiles who fled Cuba under communism, believing our stay here would be temporary — yet here we remain, decades later. We were welcomed. The irony.
Libertad is not just an exhibit; it is a living archive of courage, strength, and resilience. Through personal stories, historic artifacts, photographs, and more, it traces the paths of those who once passed through this building and helped shape Miami’s identity. Spanning two floors, this new permanent exhibition is powerful and unforgettable.
I recommend it wholeheartedly.
