About the Concert
With the newly arrived Steinway grand piano at Le 9e, this concert will take you on a journey through the myths of ancient Greece as told by some of history’s greatest composers. Two of them will likely be familiar to you – Beethoven and Debussy – but you will also discover the entrancing world of the lesser-known Nikolaï Medtner.
At the piano, Ilya Poletaev, professor at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music. Ilya performs on some of the world’s greatest stages, including the renowned Carnegie Hall in New York. He is the only Canadian to have won the Leipzig Bach Competition and has an incomparable gift for musical expression at the piano. Montreal flutist Ariane Brisson, winner of the Opus Award for Revelation of the Year, will also join Ilya for part of the programme.
