Description
The Spectacular Cabaret Fest is an international variety festival produced by Grande Cabaret Lisboa – Clube de Performers, since 2019. Founded in 2017, GCL is a collective of independent performers who promote cultural events, contributing to the dissemination of variety shows in Portugal and being part of the Neo Cabaret movement in Europe. The festival is an annual gathering of performers from all over the world who, together in the city of Lisbon for one weekend, bring two nights of exclusive shows to the public! Performances of burlesque, dance, drag, circus, music, magic and comedy take to the stage in a celebration of diversity, freedom of expression and the artistic community, creating a safe and inclusive space where everyone is welcome. This festival seeks to promote the culture and art of cabaret, an artistic genre with historical roots in resistance, irreverence and innovation that has, unlike other European capitals, been neglected in recent decades. We have already had five editions, which have always been very well received by the public and have filled venues such as the Teatro Ibérico, the Voz do Operário and the Espaço Laboratório.
