The musicians did a SUPERB job- the song selections and execution were immaculate. I would have given the experience 5 stars, but I think the team should be aware of a key issue with this venue (Bloomfield Ave Unitarian Church in Hartford): the view is very limited. Even though we paid a bit more to sit in zone A, we were still unable to see anything below the quarter members’ heads or shoulders. It’s a shame, because the set up was beautiful. I think a church as a venue is a fantastic idea- but there are better churches out there. Many churches have raised landings large enough to stage performances without the openings of the railings being so narrow that only the folks in the aisle seats got a good view. Additionally, there were a number of people recording throughout the show despite the efforts of staff members and the announcement of the musicians. I sat next to a gentlemen who kept his screen up and out the ENTIRE time, on full brightness- despite being asked once to put it away. Again, I think a different church venue could address that: in a larger church, staff could leave every other pew empty so that they could get to the people with phones in the middle. Sadly, once our pew filled that was not possible and his full brightness screen really took away from my experience.
