His latest project, I Thought I Was Better Than You, represents a new phase in his career. As expected, the storytelling remains sharp and thoughtful, but it is the music that truly stands out—melancholic, yes, yet utterly compelling. The album can also be seen as an extension of Dury’s 2021 book, Chaise Lounge, in which the performer vividly recounts moments from his childhood.
