As expected, the statue of Columbus towering over the column points in the wrong direction. This important monument on the Rambla was built in 1888 on the occasion of the Universal Exposition as a tribute to Christopher Columbus, who arrived at the port of Barcelona after his "discovery" of America. Inside the monument you will find the elevator that will take you to the observatory at 60 meters high. There you can enjoy 360 degree views of Barcelona from north to south and east to west.
