Description
Escher visited France on several occasions, including Paris, Marseille, and possibly the Dordogne region at Les Eyzies-de-Tayac. However, he was especially captivated by the extraordinary landscapes of Corsica. Much like southern Italy, Corsica's bays, calanques, beaches lined with maritime pines, and characteristic villages perched on cliffs and mountains left a lasting impression on him. During several trips in the late 1920s and early 1930s, Escher immortalized the Isle of Beauty through numerous drawings and photographic snapshots. Back in his studio, these works inspired a series of prints, including woodcuts and lithographs. Don't miss your chance to explore his work! Buy your tickets now for the exhibition M.C.
