Description
Taking its name from the title of a poem by English poet Ted Hughes, The Smile is a collaborative project that brings together the talents of Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood and Sons of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner. Born in Pandemic, the band made their surprise live debut in 2021 at Glastonbury and subsequently announced they would be releasing their debut album. In January 2022, they released the album's first preview, a guitar-driven post-punk avalanche titled You Will Never Work in Television Again. The trio released several singles until releasing their first LP A Light for Attracting Attention. This January the group will release their long-awaited second album through XL Recordings, Wall of Eyes, from which we can already hear songs like Friend Of A Friend, which shares its name with one of the songs that have seen the light previously and whose music video has been directed by none other than the filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, director of films like Boogie Nights, Magnolia, or Wells of Ambition.
