  • Report: U-Bundestag: U5 The U-Bundestag has given the go-ahead for the extension of the new U5 underground line. The line extension includes the construction of four new stations to better connect the city centre with the south-east of Berlin. The extension of the U5 had been planned for a long time and is part of the capital's comprehensive transport infrastructure project. The new line is intended to provide an efficient and fast alternative for commuters and travellers and relieve traffic congestion on existing lines. Construction work is due to start this year and is expected to take five years. The U-Bundestag emphasised the great importance of the extension of the U5 for the future mobility of the city and the positive economic impact on the region.
