Temporary Exhibitions KBr Fundación MAPFRE: Barcelona Photo Center
From October 1 to January 17, 2027:
Dana Lixenberg. American Images
Dana Lixenberg (Amsterdam, 1964) is one of the great figures of contemporary documentary photography. Her work, developed mainly in the United States, is characterised by a close, stereotype-free perspective that tackles issues such as inequality, identity and resilience. American Images brings together some of her most significant projects, from Imperial Courts, started after the 1992 Los Angeles riots, to her portraits in Jeffersonville (Indiana) and Shishmaref (Alaska). In collaboration with the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP), the exhibition covers more than three decades of a body of work focused on representing marginalised communities, iconic figures of popular culture and socially charged landscapes.KBr Flama'26
KBr Flama '26 presents the sixth edition of KBr Fundación Mapfre's annual showcase of the new generations of photographers beginning their professional careers after completing their training in Barcelona. The exhibition features the work of Sara Bravo, Elena Bulet i Llopis, Meghan Mathews and Luca Gaetano Pira, four young artists who draw on their personal experiences to address issues of universal relevance. Their projects combine documentary photography and staging to explore the visibility and struggles of the LGBTIQA+ community, as well as the role of family heritage in building connections and memory.
