The California State Railroad Museum complex opened in 1976 and is a popular destination in Sacramento. It has over 225,000 sq ft of exhibit space and uses exhibits, docents, and restored railcars and locomotives to illustrate railroad history in California and the West. Over 500,000 visit the museum annually.
