The St. Lawrence Church in Rotterdam is the only medieval structure to survive the devastating bombing of May 14, 1940. Despite the rebuilding of Rotterdam into the most modern city in the Netherlands, the St. Lawrence Church remains standing as a symbol of the city's history.
