Inaugurated in 1922, the historic building of the current Correios Cultural Center is an architectural icon of eclectic style in the heart of Rio. After decades serving as a post office unit, it was restored and reopened in 1992 for the Ecological Exhibition 92, integrating the Rio-92. Its official inauguration as a cultural center occurred in 1993, with the World Philately Exhibition – Brasiliana 93.
