Matthews Community Center
Matthews Community Center opened in 1907 as the Town's first public school. Over the years, this classic brick schoolhouse was expanded to meet the demands of this growing community. When the aging building faced demolition in the 1990s, the Town of Matthews stepped in with a multi-million dollar restoration effort. Now a Historic Landmark, the Community Center provides a vital link between Matthews' picturesque past and dynamic future.
